Stops
- Prague 2 nights
Two full days cover the Old Town and the castle district. Cross Charles Bridge early to have it almost to yourself.
- Vienna 2 nights
Add a night if you plan long museum visits. Save one evening for a coffee house and standing tickets at the opera.
- Bratislava 1 night
A compact, walkable centre. It also works as a day trip from Vienna if you would rather skip the night.
- Budapest 2 nights
The city splits into Buda and Pest and two days can feel tight. Keep half a day for the thermal baths.
Getting between cities
- Prague → Vienna: Train, about 4 h, 330 km
Regular direct trains run through the day, passing Brno.
- Vienna → Bratislava: Train, about 1 h, 65 km
Regional trains run often. In summer there are also boats on the Danube.
- Bratislava → Budapest: Train, about 2.5 h, 200 km
Direct trains follow the Danube. Buses take about the same time.

When to go
April to June and September to October are the easiest months, and December brings the Christmas markets.
