Stops
- Rome 3 nights
The Colosseum and Forum take one day, the Vatican another. Leave the third for Trastevere and the piazzas.
- Florence 3 nights
Book the Uffizi and the Duomo in advance. Pisa is about an hour by regional train and Siena a little longer by bus, both easy day trips.
- Venice 2 nights
Day crowds thin out in the evening, which is why staying on the island pays off. Give Murano and Burano half a day by vaporetto.
